Resilience keynote

Resilience isn't a mindset. It's a sequence.

In June 2020 a car crash left Joe Jackson with a traumatic brain injury, a broken neck, and a year in a wheelchair. What came back wasn't the old life — it was a method for deliberately designing the next one. That method is this keynote.

Five minutes that show the whole hour.

The narrated film of the flagship talk — tone, pace, and the weight of the story, before you commit a stage to it.

Prefer the video version?

The full narrated keynote — Joe's voice, the real slides, The Rebuild Method™ end to end. Nothing loads until you press play, so skip it if you'd rather just read.

Share it internally with your committee — it's the fastest way to get a yes.

02What the audience keeps

The Rebuild Method™ — seven moves, printed and practiced.

In June 2020 a car crash rewrote my life: traumatic brain injury, a broken neck, nearly a year in a wheelchair, and chronic pain that still visits. This talk is what I found on the other side of trying to recover the old version of me — a deliberate, designed process for building the next one.

  • Why the language of bouncing back quietly keeps people stuck.
  • The seven moves of The Rebuild Method™, in the order they actually work.
  • How imagination, immersion, and stillness change what a body will attempt.
  • One next honest step each person can take before they leave the room.
  1. R

    Receive

Stop arguing with a reality that already happened. For me that meant handing it to God — angry, at first.

  2. E

    Enter Stillness

Quiet the nervous system before trying to solve anything. Prayer counts. So does silence.

  3. B

    Befriend the Body

Notice pain, tension, and the signals underneath them.

  4. U

    Use Imagination

See a possibility that doesn't exist yet — clearly enough to walk toward it.

  5. I

    Immerse

Nature, awe, worship, community. Something larger than the current story — and it has a name.

  6. L

    Live the Next Step

Not the plan. The next honest, doable move. Gratitude is my attitude, one day at a time.

  7. D

    Design Who You Become

Don't reconstruct the old you. Build the one you were being made into.

04Organizer questions

Is this a motivational speech?

No. There is no hype arc and no calls to 'push through.' It's a working framework — seven moves an audience can run the next morning — told through a true story of catastrophic injury and deliberate rebuilding.

Who is a resilience keynote for?

Rooms carrying something they didn't choose: healthcare and rehab audiences, teams mid-restructure, educators, first responders, leadership cohorts navigating change. It adapts to clinical, corporate, and community settings.

How is it different from other adversity talks?

Most adversity talks end at inspiration. This one hands over the tools: design thinking applied to recovery, nervous-system literacy, and a printed worksheet that turns the hour into a practice.

Can it run virtually?

Yes. The keynote runs in person, hybrid, or fully virtual with a branded live stage, countdown, and an automated recording delivered to attendees afterward.

What formats do you offer?

The flagship keynote runs 45–60 minutes with a moderated Q&A afterward. I also offer a 45-minute healthcare talk, a 45-minute creative leadership talk, and a hands-on 2–4 hour workshop. The workshop moves the audience through the full Rebuild Method™ with guided exercises, not just slides.

How far ahead should we book?

Most conferences and teams book 3–6 months out so we can align the talk to your audience and schedule a brief prep call. I can sometimes accommodate shorter timelines if the date falls inside an open booking window — just ask and I'll be direct about what's possible.

What is your fee range?

Keynotes start at $3,000 and scale to $7,500 depending on audience size, travel complexity, prep time, and whether you add a workshop or second session. The workshop rate includes materials and a post-event follow-up. Travel is separate and billed at cost.
